As well as the filter bubble effect, in recent years Google has been trying to second-guess what you're REALLY searching for. Frequently I'll give it a simple query, with carefully selected words, and many of the top results simply ignore one or two of them.
Recently it has also decided that my IP located in Sydney, Australia, using an English language browser, should be using Google Egypt... in Arabic.
