Nord Stream 2: a test of German power
In Berlin the official line is that Nord Stream 2 is just a straightforward commercial venture in which neither the EU or the US should interfere. The $10bn project not only cements the sensitive relationship between Germany and Russia but also establishes Germany as an entrepot in the European gas market, replacing the declining gas production from the Dutch and British sectors of the North Sea.

The U.S. Sanctions Russia, Europe Says 'Ouch!'
European leaders suspect the senators were pursuing U.S. economic interests at Europe's expense.

"The United States government," the Senate bill says, "should prioritize the export of United States energy resources in order to create American jobs, help United States allies and partners, and strengthen United States foreign policy."

your informations are wrong.

germany is actually only importing 21,5% of his complete energy (we had a time with over 50%)

the rest is produced in the country.
still 2/3 with conventional power plants but 1/3 already with green energy.

in 2022 the green energy will be 50% and 2040 we are at 90%.

green energy becomes every day cheaper while the coal need every day more subventions. in fact coal could not even survive without getting money from the tax payer - not in europe and not in USA. it is already useless and more expensive than every other solution.
in not more than 10-15 years the renewable energy will be the cheapest around and underground oil will not be profitable anymore.

all other oil we need (i.e. for lubricants) can be produced from LIVING plants and those plants will consume the CO2 while growing.
