I bet what really happened is that the United States routinely listens in on every conversation anyone the Russian government has in the United States. This includes emails, and perhaps more importantly, what the Russian government is discussing behind closed doors. Pretty much every conversation anyone in the Trump campaign or administration had with the Russians was listened in on. Not because we put wire taps on Trump, but because we have wire taps on the Russians.
What is even more revealing is the conversations the Russians are having amongst themselves. If someone in Russian intelligence calls someone in the Russian government and details what people in the Trump campaign have said them, well.....
This is what the Trump administration doesn't understand - EVERY contact ANYONE working with or for Trump has been documented. This is will just continue to trickle out a little bit at a time.....
