People cry over the death of a character in a movie or TV show, so why not the actor too?

the thing that makes us human is our ability to imagine. celebs & disney all sell their talents in this space, & cash big checks. ergo its logical that people create a part of their lives around their entertainments, that bring joy. & the death of a celeb that resides in that happy space in the imagination can be tough to deal with.
