I carry because I can. Here's my personal progression to CCW:
-Was pretty much afraid of guns
-A few years ago my son and I went to a gun show for something to do
-My son wanted a .22LR, and I usually give him whatever he wants
-Figured I'd better educate myself on guns if I was gonna get a gun for my son
-Took a bunch of classes, subscribed to a bunch gun magazines, joined the NRA
-Educated myself on gun issues
-Bought my first new handgun, then my second
-Decided to get CCW so I could carry them wherever I wished
That's the path I took. I'm used to carrying the Glock everywhere now. I sometimes carry a second as well.
