Why and when did you start Lightspeed?

I was running my own programming/consulting company, and I started Lightspeed in 1999 as a hobby. In 99 there were only a few really good websites, and mostly disappointing ones. I wanted to see if I could do it better. I was inspired by ATK, Karups, TNV, and a couple others. Ls-University.com was my first site. It was a labor of love. I worked on it every day with no help. I did every job from recruiting models, shooting, webmastering, customer service, and accounting. It just kept growing until it was making enough money to completely close my programming company. In spring of 2000, I walked away from a career that I'd been building for 13 years to do this full time. I don't miss my old life one bit. I'm glad I was in a position to chase my dream.
